Karnataka University Entrance Exam

Karnataka University conducts entrance exam for admission to its various PG, M.Phil., Ph.D. courses in 47 PG Departments of the University.

Karnataka University Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria

Master of Arts [MA] (Kannada) , Master of Arts [MA] (English) & Master of Arts [MA] (Folklore Studies)
  1. Candidate should have successfully completed their graduation with English, Kanada, Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi as an optional subject.
Urdu & Persian
  1. Candidates must have successfully completed their graduation with Urdu and Persian as an Optional subject and should score an aggregate 40% Marks and 50% marks in Optional Urdu / Persian. However, in case, there is a vacancy of seat and you have a B.A. or B.Sc. Degree with not less than 45% aggregate marks and 60% marks in Urdu and Persian Language, then he/she may also be allowed.
Foreign Languages
  1. Candidate should have successfully completed their graduation with French as an Optional subject

  2. Candidates who have done an Advanced Diploma in French after completing their graduation in any discipline from any recognized University/ Institute are eligible to apply for the Foreign Languages.
Linguistics, Folklore, Music / (Non-Semester)
  1. Candidates should have successfully completed their graduation in any discipline and should also possess a B. Music degree from a recognised university.
Master of Arts [MA] (Anthropology) , Master of Arts [MA] (Criminology & Forensic Science) & Master of Arts [MA] (Economics)
  1. Candidates should have successfully completed their graduation in the same discipline even if as an optional subject.
Social Work
  1. Candidates should have successfully completed a B.S.W. or B.A. degree from a recognised University or must have studied related subjects such as Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Anthropology, Political Science, Criminology, Social Work and Home Science.

  2. Candidates who have done B.Sc. in Home Science or Criminology and B.H.Sc. are also be eligible to apply.
Master of Science [M.Sc] (Biochemistry), Master of Science [M.Sc] (Biotechnology) & Master of Science [M.Sc] (Botany)
  1. Candidate should have successfully completed their graduation in Applied Geology, Geology, Botany, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, General Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Geography, zoology, physics, Bio- Chemistry, Bio- technology and M.Sc. Electronic Media from a recognized university and must possess an optional subject in the discipline course.

  2. B.Sc. Electronics with the subject combination(s) of: Electronics, Mathematics and Computer Science/Electronics, Physics and Mathematics

  3. Candidate should have successfully completed their graduation in Computer Science with Computer Science/ BCA/ BE/ B.Tech. (Any branch) or any Science Graduate with Mathematics / Statistics at 10 2 level.

  4. Candidate must possess a B.Sc. Degree in Marine Biology with Botany, Zoology, Fisheries, Fish & Industrial Fisheries as Optional Subjects.

  5. Candidate must possess a B.Sc. degree in Applied Genetics with Genetics and Chemistry as optional subjects. If the seats fall vacant then candidates with a B.Sc. degree in Biological Sciences with Chemistry as one of the three optional subjects will be considered.
M.Sc. (Tech) Pulp & Paper Science
  1. Candidates should have successfully completed their graduation in Applied Science (B.A.Sc.), B.E. (Pulp & Paper), B.Sc. Tech. (Cellulose Tech.), B.Sc. with PG Diploma in Pulp & Paper Tech, Any science graduate with a minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST/Cat-I) and three years of experience in Pulp & Paper Industry.
Statistics (M.A. /M.Sc.) B.A. / B.Sc. with Statistics
  1. Candidates should have successfully completed their graduation with Mathematical Statistics or Mathematics as an Optional Subject.

  2. Candidate must possess a B.Sc. Degree in Microbiology with Microbiology or Industrial Microbiology or any other Biological Science subject as an optional subject.
Master of Commerce [M.Com] & Master of Commerce [M.Com] (Computer Applications)
  1. Candidates should have successfully completed their B.Com with a minimum of 45% (40% in case of SC/ST/Cat-I) aggregate marks in all the subjects from a recognized university.
Master of Laws [L.L.M.]
  1. Candidates should have successfully completed their LL.B. Degree (3 years), BA.LLB (5 Years) BA LL.B (Hons) in any discipline with a minimum of 45% (40% in case of SC/ST/Cat-I) aggregate marks from a recognised university.
Master of Physical Education [M.P.Ed]
  1. Candidates should have successfully completed a B.P.Ed. of 3 years duration with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST/Cat-I) aggregate marks from a recognised university.

Karnataka University Entrance Exam Selection Process

  • The admission to the PG courses is based 50% on the marks obtained in the qualifying degree and 50% on their performance in the entrance exam.

Karnataka University Entrance Exam Application Process

  1. Candidates are required to download the Application Form and three copies of bank challan (bank challan should be downloaded and printed in legal size paper) from the website www.kud.ac.in

  2. The filled in application form along with all documents (including the original copies of the challan for Application Processing fee and Entrance Test fees) should be send to the Chairman of the concerned department at K.U. Dharwad.

  3. If one wish to apply for more than one Department/course then he/she has to submit the application form separately to the concerned Department.
