Mangalore University

Mangalore University was born out of Mysore University in 1980 where it was a postgraduate centre. The University which started with three postgraduate departments, now has twenty-five postgraduate departments, supported by modern infrastructure and experienced faculty.

Mangalore University has grown impressively since its inception with 190 affiliated colleges including two constituent colleges, one at Mangalore and another at Madikeri.

It is a picturesque campus that sprawls over 333 acres, overlooking the confluence of the river Nethravathi with the Arabian Sea on one side, and the cloud-capped Western Ghats on the other. 

Mangalore University offers PG, Doctoral, PG Diploma, Diploma programs in its academic curriculum. The PG level programs include M.Sc, MA, MCA, MBA, M.Ed., M.PEd, M.Lib.Sc, M.Com, and MSW courses.

The university also offers Ph.D. in 21 specializations and M.Phil in 3 specializations. Additionally, the university offers B.P.Ed, Diploma & PG Diploma programs.

Admission in Mangalore University

Admission to MBA and MCA program on the basis of merit in Karnataka PGCET conducted by KEA and marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Admission to the Ph.D. and M.Phil. is given through the entrance test and interview round conducted by the university.

Candidates are admitted to Diploma program on the basis of their merit in the qualifying examination.
The selection of the candidates for admission to PG Diploma course is done on the basis of the applicant’s merit in the qualifying examination and marks obtained in the entrance test.

Facilities in Mangalore University

The University campus provides all the essential facilities and infrastructure for the pursuit of excellence in higher education. It is equipped with a library, the University Science Instrumentation Centre, the Microtron Centre, the Humanities Block, the new MBA Block and the cyber cafe. 

For students and staff there is a useful shopping complex, two nationalized banks, and an ATM centre. There is a post office and a telephone exchange on the campus. The University has provided residential quarters for its employees on the campus itself.

The University is also an important centre for the study of ecology and environment. The University was one of the initial universities to start undergraduate programmes in Hotel Management, Human Resource Development, Fashion Design and Yogic Sciences. All these courses have attracted students from other parts of the country and abroad.
