Karnataka State Law University (KSLU)

The Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) was established in January 2009 with its headquarters at Navanagar, Hubli for providing quality legal education.  KSLU which is located in the State of Karnataka, is the single largest federal university in the country having 92 colleges under its umbrella and its striving to transform legal education of the country to meet national and global challenges. 

At present KSLU offers the 3 years LL.B. course, 5 years B.A., LL.B., B.B.A., LL.B. and B.A., LL.B., (Hon's) B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) integrated programs and LL.M. program apart from the certificate and P.G.Diploma courses. In addition, the Ph. D. and LL. D. programs are also offered on the main campus.

The University also organizes conferences, workshops, and symposia to provide an opportunity to academicians and professionals to express their scholarly thoughts. It also brings out its flagship peer-reviewed periodicals Karnataka State Law University Journal and KSLU Student Law Review which are appreciated by eminent justices and jurists.

The University has its own international Law Moot Court Competition and also a Kannada Moot Court Competition to provide an excellent opportunity to Law students to hone their skills.

Academic Programs and Eligibility in KSLU

LL.B
Eligibility and Admission Procedure: Admissions to the first year of the 3-year LL.B. course, in all colleges under the jurisdiction of Karnataka State Law University, is strictly based on merit, based on the marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination. The candidate should have graduated in any discipline from a recognised university.

B.A., LL.B
Eligibility and Admission Procedure: Admissions to the first year of the 5 year B.A., LL.B. integrated course, in all colleges under the jurisdiction is strictly based on merit.

B.B.A., LL.B.
Eligibility and Admission Procedure: Admissions to the first year of the 5 years B.B.A., LL.B. integrated course, in all colleges under the jurisdiction of Karnataka State Law University, is strictly based on merit. 

To be eligible for admission in the 5 years B.B.A., LL.B. integrated course, the candidate should have completed 10+2 from any recognised school and should have secured not less than 45% marks.

LL.M
Eligibility and Admission Procedure: Admissions to the first year of the LL.M. program, in all P.G. Departments/ Law School/ Autonomous colleges under the jurisdiction of Karnataka State Law University, is strictly based on merit.

An applicant who has graduated in law from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for LL.M. degree course.

P.G Diploma
The University offers P.G. Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights, Human Rights and Cyber and Information Technology Law on the main campus and can be offered by any of the affiliated law college having required facilities.

Research
The University has launched Ph.D. programme, from academic year 2011-12.
