Kannada University

The establishment of Kannada University is the result of a long standing demand of a university offering quality literary courses in Kananda and English. It was established in 1991 under the chairmanship of Sadashiva Wodeyar to look into the demand. This Committee after consulting various intellectuals, education experts, political thinkers, social activists, literary personalities and representatives of people came out with a report and recommended the establishment of the much-needed Kannada University.

Kannada University offers UG, PG, Integrated and Doctoral level degree courses with a wide range of specializations, majorly belonging to the field of Literature and Fine Arts. The courses of study offered by the university include MA.PhD Integrated courses (Kannada Literature and Folklore), Diploma in Sculpture, Diploma in Music (Sangeetha) BA (Sangeetha) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA).

Kannada University BA and BFA Admission

For the BFA programme, candidates possessing Diploma in Sculpture are eligible to take admission into this course. For admission to the BA in Music programme, candidates need to hold Diploma in Music (Sangeetha) or equivalent.

For admission to the UG courses, selection will be based upon merit in the last qualifying examination.

Kannada University M.Phil and Ph.D Admission

Kannada University, Hampi offers Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degrees at the doctoral level to the research aspirants. The doctoral courses are provided with multiple specializations in various fields like Kannada Literature, Manuscriptology and Ancient Studies, Anthropology and Sciences, Tribal and Folklore Studies, etc.
