The Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad) was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2016 under the mentorship of IIT Bombay. The first academic session commenced in 2016 with three core branches, namely, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Currently, there are 40 students in each branch. A total of 113 students joined the Institute in August 2016.
The curriculum of IIT Dharwad is modeled on the curriculum of IIT Bombay. The course of instruction has been prepared in collaboration with faculty members of IIT Bombay. Instructional and research facilities are being established with state-of-the-art equipment. Above all, highly experienced and renowned professors add substantial value to the academics at IIT Dharwad.
