MET: Manipal University Admission Test

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (formerly Manipal University) conducts the Online Entrance Test known as the MET (formerly known as MOUET), a National Level examination conducted every year for admission to its various undergraduate engineering courses. The exam includes topic from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General English and generally the 10 plus 2 syllabus is covered. The exam centers for MET 2019 covers multiple states covering the whole of India.

Admission to the MBBS / BDS / MD / MS / MDS / DM / MCh courses will be on the basis of the rank obtained in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and counselling / allotment of seats by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi.

Courses through MET

Manipal Institute of Technology offers B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in several engineering streams such as Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Building Science, and Chemical.
Duration: 4 years
Qualification: Pass in 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or any technical vocational subjects as optional with a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.

B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering: 

The B.Tech program in Aeronautical engineering deals with the design, construction, maintenance, safety and study of science behind various aircrafts and their components.
Duration: 4 years
Qualification: Pass in 10 plus 2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or any technical vocational subjects as optional with a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.


B.Tech in Automobile Engineering: 

The B.Tech program in Automobile engineering deals with the study of various engines and their construction, electrical systems, alternate fuels, safety, economics and quality of an automobile. 
Duration: 4 years
Qualification: Pass in 10 plus 2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or any technical vocational subjects as optional with a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.

MET Important Dates

  • Last Date for Submission of Filled in Application Form: March
  • MET Online Test Booking Schedule (OTBS) for the 1st and 2nd attempt: 4th week of March to 2nd week of April.
  • Hall Ticket for 1st and 2nd attempt: 4th week of March to Second week of April
  • MET Examination (1st and 2nd Attempt): 4th week of April to Second week of May
  • MET Slot Booking 3rd Attempt: 3rd week of May

MET Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for applicants who have an Indian citizenship is 10+2 and for foreign nationals the candidate should score a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their 10+2, A level, IB, American 12th grade.
The candidate must study Physics, Mathematics and English as their compulsory subjects and have any one of these subjects as an optional paper (chemistry, biotechnology and biology).

MET Exam Pattern and Selection Process

The selection of candidates in the All India Manipal University is based completely on their performance in the 2.5 hours long Online Entrance Test. The exam comprises of 200 Multiple Choice questions, i.e. 50 questions in the Physics section, 50 in Chemistry, 70 in Mathematics and 30 questions in English and general aptitude.

Admit card
The candidates can directly download their admit card from the official website within 24 hrs after he/she confirms the scheduling time and date for the examination. The candidate has to register first and then login to get the admit card on their e-mail.

Counseling Process
The shortlisted candidates in the MET will have to go through a counselling process, after which the seats are allotted to the candidates according to their marks.

Scholarships for MET

Candidates who have secured within the first 100 ranks in BTech merit list in MET 2019 are offered 100% freeship. Candidates are required to pay the appropriate first year course fee at the time of counseling. The excess amount paid shall be refunded after the counseling.

Candidates selected for B.Tech course with a rank between 101 and 1000 of the respective merit lists are offered merit-cum-means scholarship. Scholarship amount shall be determined based on the parents’ annual income (from all sources).

AICTE Scholarship:

AICTE has introduced the scheme on tuition fee (course fees includes tuition and other fees) waiver for economically backward students enrolled to BTech courses. The proposed scheme will be applicable only to the students with parents’ annual income (from all sources) less than Rs 6 lakhs.

Scholarship for Konkani Speaking Students: 

10% tuition fee waiver for admission to all courses of Manipal University for Konkani Speaking students only.

Scholarship for Academy of General Education Students (SAGES):

There are a few seats reserved for students who have studied their two years of PUC for undergraduate courses or qualifying examination (all years/ semesters) for other courses in the AGE colleges.
