KCET: Karnataka Examinations Authority Common Entrance Test

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is being conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates and the ward/s of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants to the First year or First semester of full time courses for Government share of seats in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Farm Science courses i.e, Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons) Sericulture, B.Sc (Hons) Horticulture, B.Sc (Hons) Forestry, B.Tech. Bio Technology, B.Sc. (Hons) Community Science, B.Tech (Agri.Engg), B.Tech (Food Technology), B.Tech (Dairy Tech), B.F.Sc (Fisheries), B.Tech (Food Science &Tech)., B.Sc. (Hons) Agri. Marketing & Co-Op, B. Pharma and Pharma-D course, in Government / University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions in the State of Karnataka for the current academic year.
The candidates who wish to seek admission to Medical or Dental or AYUSH [Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani and Homoeopathy] courses must compulsorily qualify in the NEET (National Eligibility
cum Entrance Test) exam conducted by the NTA Board, New Delhi. The candidates who qualify in the
NEET exam will only get the eligibility for admission to Medical or Dental or AYUSH courses
through KEA for Government share of seats.
For admission to Architecture course candidate should compulsorily appear for NATA.

Karnataka CET Application Form

The application form for CET Karnataka is common for all candidates who are applying for various professional courses. The candidates can obtain the application from schools and colleges located in Karnataka. However, request for Application Form can also be made through post.

For a successful submission of KCET Application Form, the documents are to be uploaded by the candidate by filling in all the details in the specified places and submitted to the principal of their respective colleges/schools.

Karnataka CET Application Fees

For General & OBC category candidates: Rs. 650/-
For SC/ST category candidates: Rs. 500/-

The payment can be made only through offline mode (through the specified bank Challan).
Note: Fees amount may vary depending on the year in which you taking the exam.

Karnataka CET Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for Engineering / Technology Courses

  • The applicant must successfully complete Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or other equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study.
  • The candidate should atleast score a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in the optional subjects.
  • For candidates belonging to the reserved category (SC, ST and OBC - Category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), should score 40% aggregate marks in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.
  • There is no minimum mark that the candidate should score in the Karnataka CET.
  • The Engineering rank list will be prepared and published by taking into consideration the marks obtained by the candidates in both Qualifying Examination and in the Common Entrance Test.

Eligibility Criteria for Architecture Courses

  • The applicant must successfully complete Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or other equivalent examination with Mathematics as an optional subject.
  • The candidate should score a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in all the subjects in the qualifying examination.
  • For candidates belonging to the reserved category (SC, ST and OBC) and persons with mental disabilities like mental retardation or mental illness (including dyslexia) should score 45% of marks.
  • For the architecture courses, the candidates should appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) and score a minimum 40% marks (including SC/ST/OBC). Along with the copy of the 2nd PU / 12 Std. Marks Card, such candidates should submit their NATA score, mentioning boldly their CET Number on the NATA score card and send it to the KEA either through Speed Post or in person.

Eligibility Criteria for Farm Science Courses 

Farm Science courses which includes B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons) Sericulture, B.Sc (Hons) Horticulture, B.Sc (Hons) Forestry, B. Tech. Bio Technology, B.Sc.(Hons) Community Science, B.Tech
(Agri.Engg), B.Tech (Food Techno), B.Tech (Dairy Tech), B.F.Sc (Fisheries), B.Tech (Food Science &Tech)., B.Sc. (Hons) Agri. Marketing & Co-Op
  • Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as optional subjects.
  • In the case of Agriculturist Quota, the merit list will be prepared based on 25% marks each, secured in concerned combinations in II year PUC (PCMB) & CET and 50% marks secured in the Practical Test.
  • b. Minimum of 50% marks in Practical Examination is required to claim seat under Agriculturist Quota

Eligibility Criteria for B.Sc in Agriculture, Forestry, Sericulture, Agriculture Biotech, Horticulture and Bachelor of Home Science courses

  • The applicant must successfully complete Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or other equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as their optional subjects.
  • The B.Sc.(Agri), B.Sc.(Forestry), B.H.Sc., B.Sc.(Sericulture), B.Sc.(Agri.Biotech), B.Sc.(Horticulture) rank list will be prepared and published by taking into consideration the marks obtained by the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in both CET and the Qualifying Examination.

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry course

  • The applicant must atleast score a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects in their 12th Std./ 2nd PUC or other equivalent examination.
  • For candidates belonging to the reserved category (SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B) should score atleast 40% marks.
  • The B.V.Sc. & A.H. rank list will be prepared and published by taking into consideration the marks obtained by the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the CET.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Food Science and Technology, Bachelor of Fishery Science, and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Marketing and Co-operation courses

  • The applicant must successfully complete Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or other equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as their optional subjects.
  • A common rank list for B.Tech. (Food Technology), B.Tech.(Dairy Tech.), B.F.Sc, B.Tech.(Food Science & Tech.) and B.Sc.(Ag. Marketing and Co-operation) is prepared and published, taking into consideration the marks obtained by the candidates in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology (PCMB) in both CET and the Qualifying Examination.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech in Agriculture Engineering course

  • The applicant must successfully complete Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as optional subjects.
  • The B.Tech.(Agri.Engg.) rank list is prepared taking into consideration the marks obtained by the candidate in both CET (PCM) and the Qualifying Examination.

Eligibility Criteria for B-Pharma

  • The applicant should score a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for candidates belonging to SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B) in their 2nd PUC with PCM and PCB subjects.
    or
  • The applicant must score at least 45% marks (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates) in their Diploma in Pharmacy exam from a Pharmacy Council of India (PCI)  recognised institute.
  • Based on the marks obtained in the CET, the merit/ rank list is prepared.

Eligibility Criteria for 2nd Year B-Pharma

  • The applicant must score a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates) in their Diploma in Pharmacy exam from a Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) approved institute.
  • Based on the marks obtained in the CET, the merit/ rank list is prepared.

Eligibility Criteria for D-Pharma

  • The applicant must successfully complete their 2nd PUC with either PCB combination or PCM combination of subjects.
    or
  • The applicant must complete their Diploma in Pharmacy exam from a Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) approved institute.

Karnataka CET Exam Centers

The examination center for writing ‘CET’ in respect of all the candidates will be assigned by the KEA Computers on random basis. The candidates who have passed or are appearing for Q. E. within Karnataka should write the ‘CET’ in a place within the district in which they have studied 2nd PUC or 12th standard. If the ‘CET’ examination centers are located in more than one place in a district, the candidate can choose any one of the places.
